Don't Leave Home Without This Stuff!
• Establishing the habit of a consistent daily time of Bible reading and prayer • Being a committed member of and a functioning part of a local church • Sharing my faith in Jesus Christ with others as He leads me • Setting a pattern for making responsible decisions • Hearing from God and being directed by Him in my life and ministry • Developing the ability to teach others what I know • Making friends with international students or immigrants • Continually learning and polishing computer skills • Reading Christian biographies of missionaries • Getting to know and correspond with 2 or 3 or more missionaries • Praying daily for the missionaries I know • Giving consistently to some specific missionaries as God leads me • Learning to trust God to supply the finances I need • Learning to be directed by God in my life and ministry • Learning to work harmoniously as part of a team • Learning what God's Word teaches and obeying what I learn and know • Being more concerned about pleasing God than impressing other people • Tithing and giving generously to missionaries and others as He leads • Working together in harmony with others and serving others in love • Learning how to set and maintain priorities in my work, life and ministry • Renouncing pride and staying humble before God and people • Being a good steward of my time, money, abilities and special skills • Giving adequate time to my spouse and children • Training my children spiritually and also to be responsible, polite and industrious • Learning to be spiritually discerning • Learning to be flexible and to adapt quickly to necessary change without fighting it • Being able to laugh at myself and not to take myself too seriously • Admitting to myself and others when I "blow it" and not try to justify or rationalize mistakes • Learning how to really love other people and to express it appropriately • Consistently show gratitude and thank others when they help me • Learning how to disciple younger believers who look up to me • Learning how to relate well to people from a good cross section of society • Cultivating increasing spiritual maturity • Putting God and His work first in my work, home, and relationships with other people
