Planting and Nurturing Churches to the Military

U.S Military personnel serving around the world are often out of reach by an English-speaking church.  The nature of their service commitments and their geographic assignments combine to present both challenges and opportunities.  Anyone seeking to conduct a ministry in this very needy and fruitful field will require a measure of special training to understand and endure these challenges and to embrace these opportunities.  Dr. Lancaster has established and maintained a thriving ministry among the military in these circumstances.  He will be showing us the need and the blessings of this type of ministry as well as the pre-requisites for those who would attempt it.

Instructor:    Dr. Tom Lancaster
Dr. Tom Lancaster has been the senior missionary pastor of Rhein River Baptist Church in Mannheim, Germany since 1992.  Rhein River Baptist Church is a church for the U.S. Military stationed in Germany but has an international congregation.  Prior to going to Germany, he pastored in the States for twenty-one years and traveled in evangelism and church planting for three years.  He also taught at Tri-state Baptist College in Memphis, Tennessee for seven years while pastoring there.  He has been greatly used in revival ministry, having preached over 500 revival meetings seeing many souls come to Christ.  He has been used to start seven churches in the States and has assisted in starting two churches in Germany.  Over twenty men have surrendered under his ministry and are now in full-time Christian service.

Dr. Lancaster presently serves as the European Military Field Coordinator for Baptist International Missions.  He allocates a portion of his time traveling world-wide in mission’s conferences, promoting military missions and encouraging missionaries.

His wife, Dottie, has been his helpmeet for forty-five years. His son, Mark, and his family work with them in Germany.  His daughter, Dawn, and her family serve the Lord in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
