Dear Friends,
America's god is no longer God; it is money. Many
of our national woes are a direct result of
forsaking the Lord as a nation. One of our many
sins is our love of money. On every hand, evidence
confronts us of both corporations and individuals
exploiting other Americans in order to get gain. It
appears that modern Americans will do anything for
money. We are fast becoming like the northern
kingdom of Israel during Amos' day who, among other
sins, had accumulated wealth by oppression and were
awaiting the judgment of God (Amos 6:1-6).
What will God do to the nation that forsakes Him and
embraces another god? Let's ask Israel; they know.
God will let America fall on its face like
Dagon, the
Philistine fish-god (1 Sam 5:2-4). As believers,
let us be sure that our god is not money, but God.
As citizens of a country whose god is not God, we
will increasingly need to look to the prophecy of
Daniel for strength and instruction concerning
how to stand
for God in a secular society.

Military "Are" Missions
The Need of Missions to the Military
Module: Oct 13-17
Military
ministry is as much a mission field as any foreign
mission need. Opportunities and allurements to sin
structures are often the only "activities" available to
military personnel overseas, making the presence of
soul-saving stations in these locations a matter of
utmost urgency.
Missions to the military is a door of opportunity to
reach people who have "ears to hear" due to their
occupational reality of hazard and hardship for their
country. Military personnel overseas live with less
distraction to the activity of friends and family and
more exposure to the reality of deployment and danger;
therefore, their receptivity to spiritual commitment is
often greater than that of those back home.
Those who are seeking to conduct a ministry in this very
needy and fruitful field among military personnel will
require a measure of special training to understand and
endure these challenges and to embrace these
opportunities.
Tom Lancaster will be showing us how to reach the
military whether at home or overseas Oct 13-17 at
BSWE. If you

Preparing People for Pain
Embracing A Biblical Theology of Suffering
I'm
a pre-tribulationist
as a matter of sound exegesis; however, I also concede
that this eschatological position may lend itself to an
obscuring of other biblical teaching concerning
persecution and suffering. This kind of thing happens
often in life. Judas betrayed Jesus, contributing to
the most horrific crime in history; and now, nobody
wants to name his child, Judas. Likewise, religious
groups who become heretical are often so despised that
even the good things they advocate tend to be considered
wrong by others in order to avoid association. We tell
our people (Christians) they will not have to endure the
suffering of the tribulation period and rightly so; but,
does this leave them with the impression that God does
not intend for us to experience pain, suffering,
persecution, sacrifice, and loss? Does it inadvertently
promote escapism? Is it possible that our doctrinal
position on the rapture or our love for comfort and
pain-free lives have contributed to our neglect of the
doctrines of suffering and persecution? I think, yes!

Money and Missions
Getting "Pursenal"
"Can't
you do just a little bit more?" This was the plea from
J.G. Morrison in the 1930's as he sought to encourage
people to continue giving sacrificially to missions
during the Great Depression even though many people were
out of work and enduring hardships.
Most of us are aware that missionaries are not permitted
to work on the foreign field if they are there on a
missionary-related visa (such is the case with the
majority). That is why we support them. What should
they do when we fail to send them their support? The
opinions vary. Some suggest they stay on the field and
live by faith; others say they should come home.
Imagine your family in this situation...

"Daniel: A Man
Greatly Beloved"
by David Parker
"A youth of nearly seventeen
and wise above his years
was taken far by foreign king
along with three, his peers.
"They chang'd his name
from "God will judge"
to "One who worships Baal"
but from his faith
he would not budge
not even to drink ale.
"The wicked men,
they hated him
and sought a fatal plight
and threw him
in the lions' den
But he survived the night.
"The reason Daniel
stood so strong
he purposed in his heart
to God alone he did belong
and never would depart."

Maya in Mongolia
Praise the Lord for the gracious miracle of Maya
Elise Carter born (Sept 19, 2008) to Michael and
Kristen Carter in Mongolia. Michael has reported a
healthy wife and baby.
Michael and Kristen were cognizant of unfavorable
conditions for child birth prior to going to
Mongolia; however, they believed God wanted them in
Mongolia and that He is Sufficient for child
delivery without respect to geography or available
prestigious health care. They have not been
disappointed.
See a few modest pictures of
Maya at the site with her name.
