What kind of question is this? An important one!
Few of us would knowingly steal God's glory. But
what about when we do it unconsciously? Have you ever found
yourself telling people about the price you've paid to serve the Lord,
or maybe how many times you've been persecuted in some way in line with
your ministry for the Lord? Have you told others how
dangerous and difficult your life has been as a servant of God?
Have you left God out of your testimony; when, in fact,
before you attempted your service you were much in prayer
and fearful about what difficulties might lay ahead, but
after the Lord got you through, you somehow failed to mention
your fear, dependence on God, and the victory He has given you?
At this point, someone will remind me of the Apostle
Paul's rehearsing of his difficulties and ministry hardships. I
believe he did this in defense of his apostleship as he was being
attacked by the "brethren" (whether they were genuine
believers or not - they were outwardly religious) and he discerned the
need and was so inspired to recount his ministry record.
We should repel at the thought of stealing God's glory
and respond like the Apostle Paul, "For I will not dare to
speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me"
(Romans 15:18) and Peter who said, "If any man speak, let him
speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it
as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be
glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever
and ever. Amen" (1 Peter 4:11).
